Selling Entire Contents of 1853 Victorian Farmhouse
60+ years accumulation of longtime, well known residents Walter & Naiad Einsel

(the house is for sale as well, ask for details)

Walter & Naiad Einsel were both artists / illustrators and long time residents of Westport,CT

Walter Einsel (1926-1998) studied at Parsons The New School for Design, in New York, before taking on assignments from The New York Times. He eventually became art director for NBC, meeting his wife after applying for the same position with CBS. A large portion of his output, which has now become his legacy, were gifts created for his wife, Naiad Einsel. The couple shared a business as independent artists throughout the majority of his life. Together, they were the first married artists to create stamp designs for the U.S. Postal Service. They were hired together, to create an exhibition for the AT&T Age of Information Centre, producing fifty-five figures, with intricate details and moving parts. These were shown at Disney World's EPCOT Center in Florida. In recent years before Walter Einsels death.

Naiad Einsel (1927-2016) her love of art began in her father's grocery store, where she drew on the brown package wrapping paper. After attending the High School of Music and Art in New York City, she graduated from Pratt Institute. Walter & Naiad were married in 1953. Their similar styles of work enabled them to work collaboratively in their Victorian farmhouse on book and magazine illustrations, posters, advertisements, package designs and collage boxes. They also made inventive collage cards for each other, and collections of their Valentines were featured many times over the years in local galleries and newspapers. Naiad's illustrations appeared in Redbook, Collier's, Look, Good Housekeeping, The Ladies' Home Journal, Woman's Day, Family Circle, Cosmopolitan, The New York Times, Travel & Leisure, Food & Wine, and Smithsonian Magazine, and in books from Doubleday, Macmillan, Random House, Harcourt Brace & Jovanovich, Clarkson Potter, and Workman Press. She also designed record album covers, movie posters and TV commercials; her clients included M&M, Xerox, Proctor & Gamble, and Chase Manhattan. .

From the time Naiad and Walter moved to Westport from New York City in 1965, they were active participants and supporters of the town's vibrant arts community. Naiad also had a keen interest in preserving and celebrating the town's history. She designed and directed the production of the award-winning Westport Bicentennial Quilt, sewn with the assistance of 33 women, which has been on display in Westport's Town Hall since 1976. In 1996, Naiad and Walter assisted with the design of the seven-sided barn that stands outside the Historical Society. And in 2005, the Einsels received a Preservation Award for their home; in 2007, their home and property was designated a Local Historic District. Naiad was granted a Westport Arts Awards Lifetime Achievement Award for Art in 2011.

YES we do often open early, if we are ready, we open, we don't do any of this power trip nonsense all these other estate companies seem to to do - and also we don't do numbers, "our numbers" - "pre numbers" - "number exchange" (that's a good one) - really ? just open the door and lets get going ! ! - all was ask for is a single file line, been doing it that way for years, never had an issue

We want to thank all our customers that have been coming to our sales, and hope you will continue to come in the future, our "sell through" rate has been great. very little left at ALL our sales. we are often asked if we do "numbers", the answer is no, you can make your own but we don't "honor" any numbers. . .all we expect is a single file line when we open . . . on the other hand we don't ask you to call for numbers ? do a "number exchange" (that's a good one) and we don't bribe you with coffee and donuts or any of that nonsense . . . we are often asked "do you open early" . .the answer is yes. . if we are ready. . we open. . .we are here to sell and you are here to buy. . .there are lots of "johnny come lately" estate sale companies trying to cash in on the TV estate sale and auction craze, we have been in the antiques and estate business for 25+ years, and have been successful for a few simple reasons . . . we offer great, fresh estate items at great prices, plus fast efficient service and more than anything . . .

Thanks. .Bill and Brian
